FAQ for Using Micro Mesh to Polish Frets

FAQ for Using Micro Mesh to Polish Frets

Micro Mesh is a high-precision abrasive material used for polishing various surfaces, including guitar frets. It consists of tiny abrasive crystals embedded in a flexible fabric. When used for fret polishing, Micro Mesh gently removes tarnish, scratches, and imperfections from frets' surfaces, leaving them smooth and shiny.

Polishing your guitar frets with Micro Mesh is a straightforward process. Start by securing a strip of Micro Mesh to a fret and rub it gently in a back-and-forth motion along the fret's length. Repeat this process for each fret, gradually progressing to finer-grit Micro Mesh strips until you achieve the desired shine. Finally, clean the frets to remove any residue. Micro Mesh can also be used with the Frtlzr Fret Polishing Kit

Micro Mesh is effective at removing minor scratches and imperfections from frets. However, for deep and extensive damage, it may have limitations. In such cases, it's advisable to consult a professional guitar technician who can assess and address the fret damage effectively.

The frequency of using Micro Mesh for fret polishing depends on your guitar usage and the condition of your frets. As a general guideline, you can perform fret polishing with Micro Mesh during regular string changes or whenever you notice fret tarnishing. It's a good practice to inspect your frets periodically and address any issues promptly.

Micro Mesh is generally safe for use on various types of guitar frets, including those made of nickel-silver, stainless steel, and other materials. However, if you have concerns about your specific fret material or coating, it's advisable to test Micro Mesh on a small, inconspicuous area of your frets before proceeding with full-scale polishing.

While using Micro Mesh, take care to avoid excessive pressure, as it may cause over-polishing or damage to the frets. Additionally, use a light touch and follow a consistent motion to achieve even results. It's also recommended to clean your frets thoroughly after polishing to remove any abrasive residue.

Micro Mesh strips can be reused for multiple polishing sessions, depending on their condition. After use, clean the strips to remove debris and abrasive residue. If the strips become significantly worn or damaged, it's advisable to replace them to ensure effective fret polishing.
